The Radish Roots plate takes a simple thing, a handful of radishes pulled from the ground, and paints it across a glossy off-white surface in deep red, olive and black. Six radishes, leaves stretching up towards the rim, with a few scattered seeds in the corners. The petal edge gives the plate a soft, wavy outline instead of a flat factory circle, and the olive-green wash along that edge is brushed on by hand so it fades and darkens in a slightly different way on every single plate.
At 10 inches it sits in the most useful size you can own. Big enough for a proper dinner plate, small enough to work as a serving plate for fruit, dessert, kebabs or a side dish in the middle of the table. It looks just as good holding nothing at all, propped up on an open shelf.
Because the design is hand-painted, small variations in the brushwork, the shade of the rim and the placement of the leaves are normal. That is the point. It is not a print.
