The Hot Chilli platter is made for the food that makes a dawat. Red chillies tumble down its full length in every direction, some curled, some straight, each one topped with a small green stem. Tiny red hearts are dotted between them, and right at the centre, "HOT" is lettered by hand in bold black. A red rim is brushed around the entire edge, framing the whole piece.
The long, narrow shape is exactly right for food that comes in a line. Seekh kebabs, chicken tikka, malai boti, fish fingers, pakoras, samosas, spring rolls, fries, or a row of sliders. Both long sides curve gently upward, so everything stays on the platter when it's passed down the table, and at 16 inches it holds a proper serving without taking over the dastarkhwan.
Because every chilli, heart and letter is painted by hand, small variations between platters are normal. The chillies land in different places, the hearts scatter differently, and the red rim is never exactly the same width twice. That is what separates this from a printed platter.
